Prayers for Grandma

It looks as though the end is near for Daddy's Grandma Elmore. We've known this was coming for quite sometime as she is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease. Still it will be difficult to lose someone so dear.

We visited her last night. She was more alert than normal. Hannah finally warmed up to her a little and sang the ABCs for her and told her good-night when we left. It does grandma's heart good to see and hear the little ones.

While we were there, the baby was very active in my belly and Daddy felt her kick for the first time. It was a special moment. Daddy's brother felt his neice kicking too.

And that's how it goes...as one prepares to leave this world, another prepares to enter. Please pray that grandma will pass peacefully.

UPDATE: Grandma died shortly before 1 a.m. on the 28th. In the last hours her breathing became very erratic and labored. The hospice nurse administered morphine to make her more comfortable and I think she passed about as peacefully as one could hope for.

Grandma died this morning at 12:48 am. I knew she would when we left last night I even commented that she would not pass on Friday as it was one of her great grand son's birthday.

I'm sorry you lost your grandma. Your family has been blessed with longevity and you are truly lucky to have had so much time with them. Your memories will last a lifetime. (Maybe longer through your children.)
